  • Napier Bridge (Before it was called as "Iron Bridge") is one of the famous landmark for Chennai.The bridge built over the 'Coovum River' to connect Fort St.George to Marina beach in the other side.
  • This is not highly attractive,but the specialty of this bridge is, it is one of the oldest bridge built in the year 1869 (by Francis Napier the Governor of Madras during that time).
  • Initially it was constructed as "Iron Bridge" and very narrow, after that (year of 1943) it is converted to a RCC bridge (reinforced cement concrete).Then later in the year 1999, a new bridge (138 m distance and 10.5 meter wide) was built alongside to this.It also has 2 meter wide footpaths in both the sides for the pedestrian crossing.
  • Another attractive thing is,It has around 464 special lights installed on along the arches, pathways ,roads as part of city beautification project which makes the bridge more beautiful in the night (gives feel like the bridge is floating on the Coovum River water).
  • It is one of the famous film shooting spot and you will see many photo lovers taking picture throughout the day.
